You may be drinking it every day, but it’s better to stop. We are talking about soda. And we know that people in the US drink soda more than anyone. Yes, soda it’s very tasty but it’s very dangerous for the body. Especially if you consume it for a long time.
According to the health experts, some people drink soda because it’s cheap.
In this article, we are going to present you some information that will make you think twice before opening a can of soda.

What Happens To Your Body When You Drink Soda?

.

1. Extra pounds
Soda has been found to be a significant contributor to obesity. Did you know that only one can of sugary drinks a day, can give you more than a pound of weight gain every month? It has been proved that people who drink diet soft drinks actually don’t lose weight. Artificial sweeteners will cause you numerous physiologic and hormonal responses that will make you gain weight.

2. Liver damage
Soda is very harmful to your liver. You’ll have an increased risk for liver cirrhosis if you drink too much soda drinks which is similar to the increased risk chronic alcoholics face.

3. Tooth decay
Soda is harmful to your tooth enamel because it dissolves it. Soft drinks are found to double or triple the incidence of tooth decay. It has been confirmed that soda’s acidity is even worse for teeth than the solid sugar found in candy!

4. Kidney stones and chronic kidney disease
All kinds of soda drinks and colas contain high phosphoric acid content. This substance changes the urine which then promotes kidney stone formation. You may end up with a high risk of developing kidney stones by 15% if you’re drinking one quart (less than three 12-ounce cans) of soda per week.

5. Diabetes
The risk of diabetes increases by anything that promotes weight gain. Your body’s ability will also be able to process sugar. This also explains why the number of Americans with type 2 diabetes has tripled from 6.6 million in 1980 to 20.8 million these days.

6. Heartburn & acid reflux
Heartburn can be caused by an excessive consumption of soda. Most of the carbonated beverages are very acidic. They are also full of carbon dioxide which can cause distension of your stomach.

7. Soft drinks = Soft Bones = Osteoporosis
Soft drinks which contain phosphoric acid have been linked to osteoporosis (a weakening of your skeletal structure) in recent researches. They lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in your blood and when these phosphate levels are high and calcium levels are low, calcium has been pulled out of your bones and your bones become very weak.

8. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Experts claim that the excessive consumption of soda drinks can increase your blood pressure no matter what kind of soda you drink.

9. Heart disease
People who drink soda more have a higher risk to develop heart diseases. Drinking more than one soft drink a day can increase your risk of developing metabolic syndrome which includes symptoms like elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar, central obesity, low levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol and elevated fasting triglycerides. Three or more of the symptoms increase your risk of developing cardiovascular disease as well as diabetes.

9. Impaired digestion (gastrointestinal distress)
Gastrointestinal distress is a condition which signifies increased stomach acid levels requiring acid inhibitors as well as moderate to severe gastric inflammation with possible stomach lining erosion. If you tend to drink sodas on an empty stomach, you’ll only upset the fragile acid-alkaline balance of your stomach and other gastric lining. That will create a continuous acid environment which will later lead to inflammation of your stomach and duodenal lining.
Soda is actually one of the five absolute worst foods and
drinks you can consume. It has 250% more calories than sugar! People intake the highest number of calories from soda drinks, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and corn.
Some researches of the USDA claim that the per capita consumption of HFCS was about 40 pounds per year as of 2007, mostly in the form of soft drinks. Nowadays, the number one source of calories in the United States is the high fructose corn syrup in the form of soda.
When food and beverage manufacturers discovered that HFCS was cheaper to make, they started switching their sweeteners from sucrose (table sugar) to corn syrup in the 1970s.
HFCS is only about 20% sweeter than table sugar. That doesn’t seem much but it has drastically altered the American diet.
Still, there are some good news, too. The easiest thing for everyone to do is to stop the pernicious habit of drinking soda. Just cut it off from your diet!

Soda elevates insulin levels and those elevated insulin levels are the basis for the appearance of almost every chronic disease, like for example:

Heart disease

Premature aging

Osteoporosis

Cancer

Arthritis

Diabetes
